SUMMARY:UX Research: From Insight to Impact
DESCRIPTION:Details \n👋🏻 We cannot believe it. We’re at the last UX Salon Halifax meetup of 2022. Thank you to all those who have supported us\, both virtually and in person! It’s been so wonderful to connect with our community again. \nJoin us on Tuesday\, November 29th at 7:30 PM as we hear and learn from Dr. Simon Landry\, a Senior UX Researcher with Thomson Reuters. \nThe aim of UX is to meet the end user’s needs through the best experience possible. Often\, the best way to understand the end user’s needs is through UX research (UXR). However\, for UXR (and the product) to reach its full potential\, research must only be the start of a process that goes from insight to impact. \nIn this talk\, we’ll explore a new 6-step framework to guide UXR insights to measurable end-user impact. This presentation will share how to identify and fill gaps in product knowledge\, effectively communicate your insights\, and measure your impact on the end user. You will learn about the theory and practice to feel confident using the framework. \nSimon is a researcher with over a decade of experience working on human perception. His background includes a Ph.D. in human perception\, working in startups\, academia\, and healthcare. Throughout all this\, his focus has been generating real-world impact from research. He is currently a senior UX researcher with Thomson Reuters\, working on legal technology products. \nConnect with Simon at www.drsimonlandry.com\, on Twitter @drsimonlandry or\, on LinkedIn \nThis is a FREE event thanks to our friends at Volta (Volta – Canada’s East Coast Innovation Hubhttps://voltaeffect.com) and ResMed. There will be time for some Q&A and networking. \nThe meetup will take place in Volta’s mezzanine floor classroom. Here is the best way to access the classroom: \n\nEnter the building through the front steps on Barrington Street.\nOnce inside\, head up the escalators. Check-in with security at the lobby.\nHead down the hall and use the elevators. Choose M for the Mezzanine.\nOn the Mezzanine floor\, proceed down the hall until you see the classroom.\n\nWe look forward to seeing everyone! 👏

SUMMARY:ESG Basics for SMEs – Maintaining a competitive edge and export-readiness
DESCRIPTION:This is an introductory ESG (environmental\, social and governance) workshop that will engage participants in learning how ESG affects exporting\, investment attraction\, and bottom line risks and opportunities. \nToday’s value chains are global\, highly complex and multi-tiered integrated systems\, comprised of various organizations\, people\, activities\, and resources that may span multiple geographies and jurisdictions. Their complexity often leads to increased exposure to risk (i.e. regulatory\, geopolitical\, reputational\, resource availability\, natural disasters\, and more)\, while also providing tremendous opportunities. In support of these issues\, there has emerged a strong business case for public and private companies alike to integrate environmental\, social and governance (ESG) factors into the core of their strategy and decision making. \nParticipants will be engaged to \n\nDevelop a foundational understanding of ESG\nLearn about how ESG factors can influence their business performance\nConsider business case factors for SMEs in the context of risk and opportunity\n\nThis workshop is organized by the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables and Nova Scotia Business Incorporated with support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Net Zero Atlantic.
