SUMMARY:SASE’s Role in Securing AI Adoption
DESCRIPTION:AI adoption is accelerating across enterprises – from generative AI tools to AI-driven cloud services – fundamentally reshaping how users access data\, applications\, and cloud environments. While these technologies unlock new efficiencies\, they also introduce new risks\, visibility gaps\, and enforcement challenges for security teams.\nAs part of an SC Media–hosted webinar\, this session brings together industry research and practitioner perspectives to examine how Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) must evolve to support secure AI adoption at scale. With AI-driven usage patterns\, shadow AI tools\, and increasingly automated threats\, traditional network security models and fragmented SASE architectures are no longer sufficient. \nJoin Amit Bareket\, VP SASE\, Jonathan Zanger\, CTO at Check Point\, and Adrian Sanabria\, Principal Researcher at The Defenders Initiative\, for a strategic discussion on how modern SASE architectures can deliver the visibility\, policy enforcement\, and adaptive protection required in an AI-first enterprise. \nThis webinar will cover: \n\nHow AI adoption is changing enterprise traffic patterns\, access behavior\, and risk exposure\nWhy legacy network security and siloed controls struggle in AI-driven environments\nThe role of AI-powered visibility\, analytics\, and real-time policy enforcement within modern SASE\nWhat security leaders should look for in a SASE platform to enable AI innovation without compromising control\n\nGain practical insights into how SASE can serve as a foundational security framework for AI adoption – helping organizations stay resilient as both AI usage and threats continue to scale.

SUMMARY:Collect Demo Day
DESCRIPTION:About Event\n\n\n\n\nCollect brings together Halifax’s creators and innovators—artists and engineers\, students and founders\, tinkerers and builders. \nJoin us for the first of its kind in Halifax: Collect Demo Day. This is not your traditional networking event. Hear talks on songwriting\, AI\, graphic design\, electrical engineering\, and personal development. Meet motivated\, talented builders and artists of all kinds. Explore demo booths from the Collect community and connect with fellow makers. \nSchedule\n\n6:00 PM: Pizza social\n6:30 PM: Welcome and collect intro\n6:45 PM: Mainstage Demos\n8:15 PM: Booth exploration\n\nWhy is this event being held?\nHalifax is full of incredibly creative and brilliant individuals\, many of whom spend considerable time working independently side by side in cafes\, co-working spaces\, and on campus. While we occasionally share what we’re working on\, there is a lack of intentional community focused on this vital aspect of our lives. Collect seeks to create a space that builds this community and fosters deeper collaboration that might not naturally emerge in Halifax. Over the past year\, we have accumulated a wealth of incredible members working on a wide range of topics. We are holding this event to let those members share their creations and perspectives with the world! \nWho should attend?\nAnybody! It doesn’t matter what you do; there will be something here for you. It is our goal to keep Collect open to all disciplines and interests; whether you are an artist\, engineer\, or anything in between\, you are welcome. \nAbout Volta Builders\nVolta is proud to support this event as a community partner\, helping strengthen Halifax’s growing builder and creator ecosystem. Volta Builders solves real problems and creates new opportunities. It brings together AI specialists\, entrepreneurs\, and innovators who want to connect\, share ideas\, and build impactful solutions.

SUMMARY:Employer Essentials: Hiring and Retaining Temporary Foreign Workers
DESCRIPTION:As Canadian employers continue to face labour shortages and skills gaps\, immigration has become an essential strategy for attracting and retaining top talent. In this session\, Suzanne Rix\, KC\, and Laura Hanusiak of Cox & Palmer will provide a clear and practical overview of the immigration pathways available to employers hiring foreign workers. The discussion will explore key programs such as the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)\, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)\, the Global Talent Stream (GTS)\, and the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) process\, as well as cross-border hiring options under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). \nEmployers will gain insight into how to choose the right immigration pathway based on position requirements\, wages\, and worker qualifications\, along with an understanding of residency and citizenship requirements and potential challenges such as inadmissibility. Whether you are new to international recruitment or looking to refine your approach\, this session will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to navigate Canada’s immigration system effectively—helping your organization access global talent\, strengthen your workforce\, and support long-term growth.

SUMMARY:Beyond Usability: Design for Adoption
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\n\n\n\nYou deliver a flawless product\, built on user needs and tested\, only to watch users quietly ignore it. Sounds familiar? The design isn’t the problem. What if your products were wholeheartedly welcomed? Kedar Kadam\, our November speaker\, believes the key is guiding people through change during digital transformations and product development. \nWe’ll explore ways to make products (and product changes) stick\, not just get them launched. We’ll dive into running change management alongside human‑centred design from day one to turn user resistance into fast and lasting “yes” and “thank you”. \nJoin us for a discussion on improving user adoption and rediscovering that sense of satisfaction when your work genuinely makes a difference. \n> Agenda\n7:00 PM Doors open\, networking time\n7:15 PM Introductions from the event hosts\, Nata and Ruby\n7:20 PM Beyond Usability: Design for Adoption with Kedar Kadam\n7:50 PM Q&A\n8:15 PM Networking and wrap-up\n8:45 PM Doors close \n> Speaker Bio\nKedar Kadam is a UX leader with over two decades co-creating award-winning healthcare solutions that drive adoption and improve patient outcomes.
