SUMMARY:The State of Digital Adoption in Canada’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector
DESCRIPTION:ICTC research found that only 23% of Canadian manufacturers fully succeeded in implementing digital technologies over the past five years. \nA national study conducted by ICTC\, with support from NGen\, examines the challenges and opportunities associated with digital technology adoption in Canadian manufacturing. Drawing on industry surveys\, expert interviews\, and roundtables\, the research explores digital transformation across five sectors: automotive\, aerospace\, biomanufacturing\, fabricated metal products\, and food and beverage. \nThis webinar will explore key findings from the research and implications for manufacturers considering digital transformation. The discussion will also point to practical considerations and next steps that can help companies better prepare for future adoption efforts. \nAbout NGen:\nNext Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) is the industry-led\, non-profit organization leading Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing. One of five national networks supported by Canada’s ambitious Global Innovation Clusters Initiative. We are founded on the principle that digital transformation in advanced manufacturing will enrich the lives of Canadians\, delivering better products and good jobs while generating the economic growth essential to a better future. \nAbout ICTC:\nThe Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is a neutral\, not-for-profit national centre of expertise with the mission of strengthening Canada’s digital advantage in the global economy. For over 30 years\, and with a team of 100 experts\, we have delivered forward-looking research\, practical policy advice\, and capacity building solutions for individuals and businesses. Our goal is to ensure that technology is utilized to drive economic growth and innovation and that Canada’s workforce remains competitive on a global scale.

SUMMARY:From Data to Insight: Practical Statistical Modeling - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:This hands-on workshop introduces participants to statistical modeling in R\, one of the most widely used languages for statistical computing and data analysis. Statistical models are fundamental tools for understanding relationships in data\, supporting evidence-based decision-making\, and building reliable analytics and AI workflows. \nThe workshop will guide participants through the key steps of a typical statistical analysis process: exploring data\, building statistical models\, interpreting model results\, and communicating findings through clear visualizations. Participants will learn how to implement basic statistical models in R and create informative graphs to better understand and present their results. \nThe session is divided into two parts. The first session focuses on the conceptual foundations of statistical modeling\, including model assumptions\, interpretation\, and how statistical thinking supports reliable analysis. The second session focuses on hands-on coding in R\, where participants will build models\, generate visualizations\, and organize their analysis into a reproducible statistical report using R Markdown. \nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will have practical experience using R to perform statistical analysis and will produce a structured analytical report that integrates code\, results\, visualizations\, and interpretation. This workflow helps ensure analyses are transparent\, reproducible\, and easy to communicate to collaborators and stakeholders. \nPart 2 \nWe will take your learning further in Part Two of our workshop series as we move from foundational concepts into hands-on application. In this session\, participants will apply these methods directly in R while learning how to build a reproducible case study using R Markdown. Through practical exercises and guided instruction\, attendees will explore how to organize analyses\, document workflows\, and create clear\, shareable reports that support collaboration and reproducibility. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your technical skills or improve the way you communicate insights\, this session will provide practical tools you can immediately apply in your work. \n3 Key Takeaways \n\nUnderstand the importance of statistical modeling in data analysis\nGain hands-on experience building models and visualizations in R\nLearn how to create a reproducible statistical report using R Markdown\n\nMeet Your Presenter – Joy Liu \n\nI’m a data-driven researcher with experience turning complex datasets into clear\, accurate insights using R\, SQL\, and advanced analytical tools. \nI enjoy optimizing statistical models\, improving data quality\, and communicating technical information in a way that bridges the gap between professionals and customers. \nI’m passionate about using strong research skills\, clear technical writing\, and continuous learning in AI-supported innovation to help companies make better\, more informed decisions.

SUMMARY:Write Better Code Through Compositional Design
DESCRIPTION:Do you know that one feature no developer wants to touch? \nThe one that somehow takes forever to update and seems responsible for 80% of the application. The component with dozens of props\, flaky tests\, and a mysterious workaround nobody fully understands anymore. \nSystems like that become difficult to maintain. They slow development\, erode confidence\, and make even small changes feel risky. \nBut it doesn’t have to be that way. \nJoin Sarah Padovani\, Web Team Lead\, for a free live webinar on compositional design. Sarah will explore how teams can avoid creating monolithic components in the first place\, with practical ways to build systems that are easier to understand\, test\, reuse\, and evolve. \nLet’s stop being afraid of our own codebases. \nEvery codebase has one: the feature no developer wants to touch. It’s too big\, too fragile\, and somehow responsible for way more than it should be. In this webinar\, we’ll look at how compositional design can help teams avoid monolithic components\, reduce risk\, and build systems that are easier to understand\, test\, and evolve.

SUMMARY:Business and AI: Where to Start?
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot of noise around AI right now. Most of it is aimed at large enterprises and hard to translate into something practical for a business like yours. \nOn June 11\, we’re hosting a practical evening at the Pluragon office for local business owners who are hearing about AI but haven’t found a clear path forward yet. \nNo jargon. No sales pitch. Just an honest conversation about where AI fits in your business and what you can actually do right now. \nThursday\, June 11 · 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM\nPluragon Office · 171 John Savage Ave\, 2nd Floor

SUMMARY:Vibe Coding Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Please note this is a technical session \nJoin us on Monday\, June 15 from 6:00pm–8:00pm for a deep technical session exploring the Ralph Loop\, an emerging workflow that enables AI agents to autonomously write\, iterate on\, and improve code with minimal human intervention. \nHosted by Sam Silver\, this meetup will focus on: \n\nWhat the Ralph Loop is\nWhy autonomous coding loops are becoming effective\nThe infrastructure and workflows behind them\nBuilding a loop from scratch\nShipping a working application using the approach\n\nUnlike previous Vibe Coding sessions\, this meetup is designed specifically for a more technical audience.
