Fueling Startup Growth: Getting it Right the First Time

The world is more competitive than ever, and while ideas are easy, taking something beyond idea to real growth can be much harder. In this training, we will equip you to use data to help you make decisions, and orient yourself for growth. Session 1: What do you need to understand to figure out where your business fits in the grand scheme? What actually matters for your technology startup? Session 2: Once you’ve started to understand your place in the world, how do you gather information successfully, from primary and secondary sources? Session 3: Once you have data inputs, how do you make sense of it? What are your next steps? The course will be facilitated by Dr. Jonathan Calof, an expert who has helped thousands of companies with their growth. All of the content will build on the previous day, so make sure you join us for all of it. Due to interactive nature of the training, this will be offered only as live training. Volta’s Virtual Pitch Competition

Join us on Wednesday, February 24 at 12:00pm to watch entrepreneurs pitch their business or idea to a panel of industry-expert judges. When: Wednesday, February 24 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm Where: Virtual via Zoom Those registered prior to 10:00am, February 24, will receive an email via Eventbrite with log in details at that time. Those registered after 10:00am, February 24, will receive the details with their confirmation email. Description: This Pitch Competition is open to Volta Residents, Network Members and anyone from the tech community in Atlantic Canada. This event is an excellent opportunity for you to practice your three-minute pitch, fine-tune your deck, and get feedback from peers and industry professionals. You will also gain valuable experience presenting to investors, and potential early adopters. Plus, you never know who may be tuning in to watch! Each competition will have a judging panel, comprised of entrepreneurs and community leaders. Vessels of the Future - Module 2 of  the Exploring Opportunities in Ocean Tech for Young Women Program The Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development – Nova Scotia, Ignite Labs, Dalhousie University’s Emera IDEAhub and DeepSense, and with support from IBM Canada and Engineers Nova Scotia, is thrilled to announce the launch of a program aimed at engaging young women in the region’s burgeoning ocean tech industry. Exploring Opportunities in Ocean Tech for Young Women is an extracurricular program being offered across the province to youth in grades 10-12 as part of a strategy to attract more under-represented groups to the marine industry. Featuring a monthly speaker series, mentoring program, and hands-on design-thinking workshop, this program will be led by women, for young women.
