The Cape Breton Partnership will host a virtual update on September 30 with Develop Nova Scotia sharing the latest details on the Internet for Nova Scotia Initiative and the upcoming internet improvement across the Island. Following the presentation, Develop Nova Scotia staff will be available for a question and answer period following the presentation, which is open to the public to attend for free, though pre-registration is required. NASA Space Apps Hackathon

Join us for the anniversary of the first Atlantic Canada NASA Space Apps hackathon challenge designed by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) hosted at Dalhousie University. NASA Space Apps is a free, virtual hackathon where participants will work in teams to create their own projects addressing the impacts of various world issues using data provided by NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. Using software-carpentry.org materials this workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of the Unix Shell, Version Control with Git and R. About this Event This is a beginner level series that is hands-on, covering the fundamentals of R, including data types, conditional statements, loops and functions, as well as program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. The goal is to teach the practical knowledge needed to start programming, debugging and using R in everyday tasks. You do not need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.
