AI and Machine learning in the Ocean with DeepSense

Lunch will be provided! Learn about how artificial intelligence and machine learning is being applied in the ocean sector. DeepSense was created to support organizations with resources, both technology infrastructure and skilled researchers, to solve big data challenges at ocean-related organizations. By partnering companies with skilled academic researchers, those working in the ocean space have the opportunity to fully explore AI and machine learning to more easily use data to make decisions, optimize operations or better use data to create new products and services. DeepSense projects help companies develop commercially-useful predictive models, or design and test analytical prototypes and applications for use in the blue economy. DeepSense is a partnership between ACOA, the NS Government, Dalhousie University, IBM and the Ocean Frontier Institute. About the Presenter: Jennifer LaPlante is the Executive Director of DeepSense. She has a strong background in technology and innovation. Workshop for SMEs: Intellectual Property Strategy in the Space Sector

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) are co-hosting a workshop for SMEs currently involved in space activities and to SMEs of high technology sectors interested to do so. The global patent filing related to various areas of the space sector has consistently grown over the last 40 years, according to the report Patents in Space recently released by CIPO. It has been recognized that in general, firms that protect their intellectual property (IP) are more likely to increase their revenues through leveraging of their IP assets, than those that do not. SMEs that patent their invention have a stronger tendency to become high-growth firms and to export. Please join this interactive in-person workshop by the CSA and CIPO experts to enhance your knowledge on IP strategy, technology transfer and commercialization in a business environment.
