SUMMARY:Ocean Connector: Developing and Adapting Technology to Target Global Goals
DESCRIPTION:Meet the Atlantic Indigenous ocean businesses developing innovative ocean technology projects selected under the Samqwane’jk initiative. \nAbout this event\nSamqwane’jk is a first-of-its-kind initiative led by Ulnooweg Development Group in collaboration with COVE and Upswing Solutions. Indigenous ocean businesses were invited to propose projects in partnership with companies at COVE. Three projects have been selected to receive funding support rolled out over two years. \nJoin us on May 26th to meet three Atlantic Indigenous Ocean companies selected to receive support under the Samqwane’jk Ocean Partnership Initiative for their innovative ocean projects. \nThe purpose of the Samqwane’jk initiative includes building partnerships with ocean technology companies to boost competitiveness\, enhance innovation\, collaboration\, and knowledge sharing for Indigenous and non-Indigenous ocean businesses alike. In addition to funding\, the three selected initiatives will receive training and business development support while aiming to deliver measurable progress against the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). \nLearn more about Samqwane’jk at www.samqwanejk.com. \n\nThe 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015\, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet\, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 SDGs\, an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education\, reduce inequality\, and spur economic growth while tackling climate change and preserving our ocean and forests. \nThe SDGs build on decades of work by countries and the UN\, including the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. To make the 2030 Agenda a reality\, broad ownership of the SDGs must translate into a strong commitment by all stakeholders to implement the global goals.

SUMMARY:INDUSTRY DAY - Government Adoption of Cloud and Intelligent Automation: Driving Change Together!
DESCRIPTION:“Government Adoption of Cloud and Intelligent Automation: Driving Change Together!” \nWednesday June 1\, 2022 \nScroll down to agenda… \nThough the economic case for government-wide adoption of Cloud was made more than a decade ago\, progress in Canada remains uneven. In fact\, despite considerable dialogue\, adoption of Cloud remains at less than 10 per cent! \nTECHNATION put forward recommendations in 2015 and then again in 2019 calling on Government to accelerate Cloud adoption\, prioritize in-house Cloud education and training\, adopt a different operating model\, and more. Unfortunately\, Government remains hesitant to use leading-edge tech like Intelligent Automation to accelerate progress on delivering broader public policy objectives for Canada. That’s not to say that nothing was done; the Government of Canada did make some critical investments in digital government\, which enabled it to respond quickly to citizens’ needs. But as we emerge from the pandemic\, how do we ensure government continues – and accelerates – its modernization efforts to fully embrace Cloud and Intelligent Automation to deliver modern services while keeping Canadians’ information safe and secure? \nTo help drive change\, TECHNATION will bring key government leaders and industry together to address government cloud / IA / Ai adoption and its obstacles and explore ways that Canada’s tech sector and government can collaborate to develop a roadmap to accelerate digital government for Canadians. \nJune 1\, 2022 | Live | Full Day | Ottawa \nThe Westin Ottawa | Confederation Ballroom
