SUMMARY:Building scientific capacity and a new generation of researchers (Host: SK)
DESCRIPTION:Advances in technology and increasing digitalization\, before and exacerbated during the pandemic\, have led to higher demand for advanced skills sets. To build the future of work\, we need to empower a new generation of researchers by nurturing talent and creating opportunities for career development. \nThe critical importance of building scientific capability is apparent\, and the first steps have already been taken with the Government of Canada investing over $550 million to support more than 5\,500 researchers from coast to coast to coast\, and universities across Canada creating opportunity for experiential learning in leading research labs to help young researchers develop the foundational skills and experience needed to pursue meaningful careers in R&D and related fields. \nSupporting researchers in the early stages of their career helps them build an innovative mindset\, confidence and important industry and community connections. Yet\, these young researchers face many challenges\, including establishing research credentials or having them recognized\, limited resources for research\, and high competition for the scarce research positions available. \nJoin leaders as they share their personal and organizational initiatives\, experiences and learnings in building scientific capacity and supporting a new generation of researchers for a better future world of work. \nIntroduced by Florence Rousseau\, Director\, Marketing & Communications\, Magnet\, and moderated by Chantal Brine\, CEO\, EnPoint\, we invite you to the next installment of the Building Future Ready Communities: Virtual Tour series for community building and an inspirational panel discussion and Q&A! \nIf you are unable to join us live\, sign-up anyways and you’ll receive instructions on how to access the recording afterwards.

SUMMARY:Supplier Diversity Information Session - Valley Region: Discovering Opportunities for Small Businesses
DESCRIPTION:Event Overview\nSupplier Diversity is growing across Canada\, and it’s more than just a buzzword. \nNSBI\, in partnership with the Supplier Diversity Alliance Canada (SDAC)\, is hosting a morning information session to present and discuss supplier diversity procurement and the benefits of certification in relation to exporting. \nSupplier Diversity helps your business find opportunities\, access supply chains\, and make connections in a new way. \nJoin us in the Annapolis Valley at Acadia University in Wolfville\, as the leadership team from Canada’s four certifying organizations for supplier diversity come together for this very special event. You’ll learn how your business can access new opportunities that are exclusively available to businesses of diversity. \nWhat is a business of diversity*?  A business which is 51%+ owned\, managed\, and controlled by: \n\nAboriginal and/or Indigenous Peoples\nPersons with Disabilities\nLGBT+\nVeterans\nVisible Minorities\nWomen\n\nOne of the most promising opportunities for businesses of diversity is to explore new markets through supplier diversity or inclusive procurement. Supplier diversity reaches out to groups traditionally underrepresented in the supply chain of purchasing processes of major corporations or governments. It is a strategic business case that provides diverse businesses equal opportunities to become suppliers to major corporations across Canada\, the US and Europe. It is also the bridge between diversity and inclusion policy and social responsibility or sustainability. \nWhile these programs open doors for companies\, they do not guarantee the business. It provides businesses of diversity with equal opportunities to pre-qualify and bid on purchased goods and services. Suppliers of diversity still must be competitive in things such as quality\, price\, service\, delivery\, etc. \nAGENDA\n9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Registration and Networking\n9:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Opening Remarks by Laurel Broten\, President & CEO\, NSBI\n9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Presentations by SDAC:\nCassandra Dorrington\, President & CEO\, Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC)\nDarrell Schuurman\, Co-Founder & CEO\, Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC)\nDeidre Guy\, Founder & President\, Inclusive Workplace Supply Council of Canada (IWSCC)\nSilvia Pencak\, President & CEO\, Women Business Enterprises Canada (WBE Canada)\n10:30 a.m. – 10:40 a.m. Break\n10:40 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Panel discussion on Supplier Diversity Programming with corporate partners from BGIS\, Sobey’s & RBC\n11:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Closing Remarks followed by networking session with SDAC\, corporate partners & NSBI\nLight refreshments will be served. \nRegistration Deadline: Tuesday\, July 12\, 2022 Space is limited. SUMMARY:Leading Change Through Digital Transformations
DESCRIPTION:We are at an inflection point of incredible opportunity\, and leaders need a workforce that is engaged and motivated\, making progress. \nBut what has worked in the past will not work now. With 72% of employees reporting feeling disengaged\, and people reflecting on how work should fit them\, a new approach is needed to shape a working environment that is creative\, collaborative\, and productive. \nLeaders that are unable to evolve and adapt\, will likely lose their top talent and struggle to compete against organizations who have the toolkit to effectively respond to the 5 External Shifts… \nThe WorkInsights program provides a framework for the shifts needed to lead effectively and provide the working environment most effective to attract and retain talent and gain their best contribution. \nHarvard Business School shows 60% of the results of an organization are attributed to the one senior leader – a significant responsibility if you are that leader – the question is\, are you ready?

SUMMARY:Zero Trust: Building Your Security Mesh With All Star Players
DESCRIPTION:Being intelligent with identity is crucial to any security or IT project. Our webinar series is designed to look at identities in relation to the market hot topics\, and provide you\, with clear takeaways on what you need to do now. \nAs envisioned by NIST (SP 800-207)\, Zero Trust security models eliminate persistent trust and enforce continuous authentication\, least privilege\, and adaptive access control. This strategy also applies segmentation and micro-segmentation for secure access. A zero-trust approach is about constant visibility into who is doing what on your network. This ensures maximum control over network security and network access. \nOne thing analysts\, enterprises\, and customers alike can agree on is that the journey to Zero Trust must start with Identity and Privilege. But choosing the right technologies to incorporate into your security mesh can feel a little like choosing a team to play a baseball game without anyone playing together before. You have a finite amount of members you can have on your team and you want the best person for each position\, but without practice you have no idea who that is. So how do you choose your winning team? \nMuch like baseball\, you’d choose your team based on who works best together. You want your security stack to be cohesive and work together to achieve your security goals\, such as a Zero Trust framework. There’s no denying it that many products on the market today do what they say\, but it’s about working them together and smarter\, not harder. If you haven’t created a solid game plan when it comes to your tech stack then you’re probably seeing one of these things: \n\nNo central visibility or context\nAdditional management overhead\nDisconnected user workflows\nOver provisioned users or unidentified gaps in access\nMultiple accounts per use\n\nJoin our session with Ping Identity to understand how to find your star players and how you can maximize the value of each to help you ensure maximum control. A Zero Trust approach is about least privilege\, efficiency\, and constant and consistent visibility into who is doing what. Join this session to learn: \n\nHow to identify and choose your Technology Players\nWhere companies went wrong\nWhere companies got it right\nHow to build a case for Zero Trust\n\nMeet the Presenters \nKevin Alexandra\nDirector\, Technology Alliances \nKevin has over 15 years experience implementing IT security services and solutions across some of the world’s largest and most complex enterprise environments. As a BeyondTrust veteran\, Kev has been involved in hundreds of deployments\, projects with millions of endpoints\, and a plethora of different use cases. He brings this relevant perspective to the Technical Alliances Program to ensure our technology integrations continue to bring value to our customers. \nAubrey Turner\nExecutive Advisor \nAubrey Turner has an extensive background in successfully delivering strategic\, enterprise cyber security solutions to Fortune 1000 companies that address business problems\, strengthens organizations\, reduce risk and deliver positive business outcomes. Aubrey has demonstrated rapport and consensus building with key stakeholders. Additionally\, he has proven leadership\, communication\, management\, collaboration\, and sales skills. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Check Point Infinity - Defining the modern cyber security architecture (AMER)
DESCRIPTION:About this talk \nHow to secure your organization’s infrastructure and data in the most efficient way and at the lowest cost? \nRecent global market conditions and trends in information security underscore the importance of organizations employing a consolidation strategy. Security practitioners can reduce the complexity of their organizations’ security infrastructure\nsimply by consolidating the number of vendors’ solutions they employ. In the process\, security efficiency and the overall threat prevention profile of their organization will be improved. \nAdopting an active threat prevention approach enables organizations to block attacks before they can cause damage to their systems. With the increase in the sophistication of attacks\, volume\, and speed\, relying on detection-only technology and human remediation can be disastrous.\nFor security teams to react in real-time to prevent cyberattacks and minimize the damage to their organization; a single view of the entire environment is needed to improve visibility and control. Only a centrally managed security infrastructure eliminates visibility silos and helps improve defenses. \nDuring this webinar\, case studies and strategies will be presented to demonstrate how to enforce threat prevention and optimize your security footprint.
