SUMMARY:Accelerating Accessibility for Businesses
DESCRIPTION:The workforce underrepresentation of people with disabilities is well documented. SUMMARY:Hackergal’s 11th National Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:Hackergal is a charitable organization that inspires girls across Canada to explore the opportunities in code. \nWith women vastly underrepresented in the tech industry\, Hackergal strives to inspire a new wave of Canadian female coders to bring equality to the booming industry. \nHackergal’s Hackathon Program is designed to encourage learners to achieve their full potential through 6 Future-Ready Competencies. Learning to code and making a difference through technology goes beyond programming knowledge and skills. That’s why these core competencies equip girls with the ability to meet the complex demands of diverse contexts and be successful in their everyday lives and in their future. \nWe believe that every girl can thrive when they are given the opportunity to tell their story and share their voice. We want to champion them along the way!

SUMMARY:Exploring multigenerational workforces in 2022 & beyond (Host: MB)
DESCRIPTION:Today’s workforce is more complex than ever before as aging populations and an economic crisis have resulted in a labour market where five generations coexist. This multigenerational workforce gives rise to unique challenges for organizations in understanding and addressing disparities in values\, needs\, and expectations\, and in creating advancement opportunities for young professionals while recognizing and including older workers. \nResearch conducted by the World Economic Forum\, AARP and OECD found that 83% of global executives agree that multigenerational workforces are key to business growth and success\, and 80% of organizations employ a multigenerational workforce. However\, 53% do not include age in their diversity and inclusion policy and 58% do not provide training or support related to managing a multigenerational workforce. Furthermore\, Deloitte’s 2021 Global Human Capital Trends reported that only 6% of survey respondents strongly agree that their leaders are equipped to effectively lead a multigenerational workforce. \nThe challenges of a multigenerational workforce\, exacerbated by the changes COVID-19 forced on or brought about in the world of work as organizations transformed operational models\, make it difficult for many organizations\, employees\, and job seekers to navigate and succeed in this new complex workforce demographic. \nJoin leaders as they share their personal and organizational initiatives\, experiences and learnings in exploring multigenerational workforces in 2022 & beyond: \n\nSiju Ewhubare\, President & CEO\, Crown Mentorship Foundation\nRhonda Taylor\, CEO\, Career Trek\nTanya Lush\, Director of Workforce Development\, Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE)\n\nIntroduced by Florence Rousseau\, Director\, Marketing & Communications\, Magnet and moderated by Chantal Brine\, CEO\, EnPoint\, we invite you to the next instalment of the Building Future Ready Communities: Virtual Tour series on May 10th\, 1-2 PM EDT / 2-3 PM ADT for community building and an inspirational panel discussion and Q&A!

SUMMARY:Exploring opportunities in rural communities
DESCRIPTION:The urban-rural divide in Canada describes disadvantages for rural communities in terms of economic growth\, population density\, income distribution\, career opportunities\, quality of life\, etc. Yet while the global pandemic resulted in unprecedented job loss in 2020\, rural areas have seen the fastest overall employment recovery. \nFurthermore\, while only 18% of the current population in Canada lives in rural areas\, research conducted by Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship predicts that rural areas will achieve rapid population growth in the coming years. As a result of COVID-19\, employee and job seeker’s preferences are changing and Canadian’s are choosing greener spaces over big cities. This will foster rural communities with more diversity and lead to greater employment and training opportunities for the future of work. \nJoin leaders as they share their personal and organizational experiences and learnings on how organizations and job seekers can identify and explore opportunities to build meaningful careers and work in rural communities: \n\nTara Mascarenhas\, Director of Programs\, SOI Foundation\nTo be Announced\nTo be Announced\n\nIntroduced by Luke Nixon-Janssen\, Director\, Marketing & Business Development\, Magnet and moderated by Chantal Brine\, CEO\, EnPoint\, we invite you to the next installment of the Building Future Ready Communities: Virtual Tour series on April 7\, 1-2 PM EDT for community building and an inspirational panel discussion and Q&A! \nIf you are unable to join us live\, sign-up anyways and you’ll receive instructions on how to access the recording afterwards
