Volta & BBI New Program Information Session

Join Volta and BBI to learn more about a new program that will nurture the growth of Black and Indigenous entrepreneurs in Atlantic Canada Join Volta and the Black Business Initiative on Tuesday, January 26 at 4:00pm to learn more about an exciting, collaborative new program that will support the growth and development of Black and indigenous entrepreneurs in Atlantic Canada. The program will run twice per year in 2021, with the first cohort beginning in mid-March. Each cohort will last four months with up to 10 participants per session. During that period, participants will undergo intensive training to build out their business idea or career objective, while receiving support and mentorship from leading experts in various fields. The cohort will have access to a working lab, located in Volta’s Co-Working Space, to work alongside one another as they build out their ideas; they will also receive an honorarium for participating. Timelines for this program will align with further development opportunities and events, such as quarterly Pitch Competitions, Volta Cohort, and Volta LEAP. DemoCamp 2021

No PowerPoints. No Judges. No Prizes. Just straight exposure. DemoCamp is an annual event for the Atlantic Canadian startup ecosystem to come together and showcase their innovative technologies to their peers, while reaching potential new customers or investors, as well as the rest of the community. Founders from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador are invited to explain what their tech is, how it works, why it is helpful and more, but must do so without a PowerPoint presentation or any other type of slide deck. This makes the presentations more focused on the technology being demonstrated. This year’s DemoCamp event will take place virtually via video conference. Each participant will have five minutes to present their product or service to a virtual audience– but must do so without a PowerPoint presentation, or any other type of slide deck. Attendees will be encouraged to give feedback and ask any questions using the chat function. A set amount of time will be available for questions from the audience. Digital Nova Scotia and Saint Mary's University are extending an invitation to professionals working in the tech sector for a roundtable discussion on our joint research initiative, Setup for Success. As part of this ongoing research project, we recently conducted an industry survey to learn more about current onboarding practices within the tech sector and will be presenting our findings during this virtual roundtable. By joining us for this discussion, you will be helping to validate our research on the current onboarding practices in the tech sector and shaping and directing the creation of a future tool that will support the development of onboarding programs in the industry.
