ACENET: Programming for Humanities & Social Science Workshop Begins

Introductory workshop for researchers/students who are interested in programming basics for Humanities and Social Sciences applications. No prior experience with programming is required. Applications will include web scraping, survey field restriction, websites and text analysis. Introduction to Unix Shell and Linux* Websites and versioning with Git* Regular Expressions Python for Humanities* Web Scraping with Python *Workshop is entirely or partially based on Software-Carpentry (SWC) materials. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all five as later sessions build on previous material. You need to have a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages. We invite you to participate in this hands-on introductory technology training to learn some foundational skills and concepts. The goal is to have each participant leave with a greater understanding of the tech topic of their choice and the resources to keep learning. Innovating Online – Youth Digital Programming

Digital technology and innovation workshops focusing on problem-solving, communications, critical thinking and teamwork skills. Innovating on The Internet Have the next (big or small) idea, no budget, or development skills? No problem – you shouldn’t start with building anyway. In this hands on workshop we will explore pre-product design tools that anyone can pick up to express their app idea. With these tools you will walk away with a means to engage your user base to test concepts, gather feedback quickly, very inexpensively, and early on in the product cycle. Don’t have a big idea?
