Building for the Future: A Webinar Series Aimed at Supporting Nova Scotian Businesses

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE: A WEBINAR SERIES AIMED AT SUPPORTING NOVA SCOTIAN BUSINESSES Supported by the Department of Labour and Advanced Education The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is launching a training program to be executed throughout Nova Scotia, to support businesses as we all learn how to navigate and do business during COVID-19 and a new way of life. Businesses need support and expertise as they pivot and attempt to stay in business and grow through this pandemic situation. The Halifax Chamber has surveyed and spoken to members and have identified the necessary critical areas of support.   OVERVIEW: Building for the Future is a 6-part series on what members need to know now to survive and thrive throughout a pandemic and into recovery. This webinar series will feature 2 hour sessions 3 days a week for 2 weeks, for a total of 12 hours of training. Businesses will be better prepared to navigate through how the pandemic affected their business and what they can do in response and identify their customers and modify their sales tactics. ACENET: Cloud from A to Z Workshop Begins

In-depth workshop for users with no prior cloud experience, at the end of which you will have a virtual machine and a Jekyll website. Cloud computing provides great flexibility allowing complete control of the computing environment. In addition the environment can be copied, backed up, created and recreated in an automated way. In these lessons we will start you on the path towards making use of the great flexibility and power of cloud computing. A common use case for the cloud is its ability to provide web services. To explore the flexibility and power of cloud computing we will use the popular static website generator Jekyll. Static website generators offer many security benefits, and simplify and reduce the maintenance burden associated with well known dynamic CMSes such as Wordpress and Durpal.   This workshop will take place on: Monday, October 19th - 2:30-4:30pm (ADT) Wednesday, October 21st - 2:30-4:30pm (ADT) Monday, October 26th - 2:30-4:30pm (ADT) Wednesday, October 28th - 2:30-4:30pm (ADT) We will be recording the presentation part of this workshop only.
