NewAE Technology Inc. is dedicated to providing tools for performing embedded hardware security research, and making these tools widely available by not only minimizing the cost but also by keeping the designs open. NewAE Technology Inc. hopes to fundamentally change the ecosystem of embedded development by making all engineers aware of both the theoretical and practical issues of side-channel power analysis and fault attacks.
The ChipWhisperer was created as part of Colin O’Flynn’s research towards his Ph.D. in embedded hardware security. He created an open-source project which provides a standardized capture tool for testing new analysis algorithms along with countermeasures. While there was considerable interest in these tools, the majority of researchers were not interested in spending many hours building their own tools and preferred instead to purchase a low-cost solution.
The ChipWhisperer is an open-source project, meaning that it can be built by anyone. To protect our customers, NewAE Technology Inc. owns the ChipWhisperer trademark and prohibits other companies from selling devices under the ChipWhisperer name. This guarantees that when you purchase an official ChipWhisperer device, you will be receiving a device that has gone through thorough, in-house testing, and you are supporting the future development of the open-source software that runs the ChipWhisperer.
NewAE Technology Inc. manufactures and sells its own products, including the ChipWhisperer® and ChipSHOUTER®. Mouser Electronics carries the entire NewAE Technology Inc. product line, providing easy access to customers around the globe. Many of our products are made right here in Nova Scotia by local contractors, and all final assembly and testing are completed by NewAE Technology Inc. to ensure consistent quality.
