KDD 2017 Coming to Halifax!
Halifax, Nova Scotia chosen for KDD 2017 – August 14-17, 2017
The award of KDD 2017 to Halifax is a significant international conference win for Nova Scotia in the Data Analytics space. The Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining conference is a premier event that brings together researchers and practitioners from data mining, knowledge discovery, data analytics, and big data. This will be the third time that the conference will have been held in Canada (Montreal, QC 1995, Edmonton, AB 2002). See http://www.kdd.org/kdd2015/ to get a sense of scope and participation in 2015.
This year Halifax / NS will also host two additional National level conferences related to Data Analytics:
1. The 2015 AI/GI/CRV Conference, June 2-5, 2015 (see http://aigicrv.org/aigicrv2015/).
This is a collaboration of three conferences: Artificial Intelligence 2015, Graphics Interface 2015 and Computer and Robot Vision 2015. This combined conference will bring together hundreds of leaders in research, industry, and government, as well as Canada’s most accomplished students, to showcase Canada’s ingenuity, innovation and leadership in intelligent systems and advanced information and communications technology. Most specific to Data Analytics will be the AI-2015 conference (see https://projects.cs.dal.ca/ai2015/).
2. The Big Data for Productivity Congress, October 19-21, 2015 (see http://bigdatacongress.net).
Most notably Ray Kurzweil will be the keynote speaker. Ray is the Director of Engineering at Google Analytics, and was the principal inventor of the first CCD flat-bed scanner, the first omni-font optical character recognition, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, the first text-to-speech synthesizer, and the first commercially marketed large-vocabulary speech recognition.
